Overview

chirp provides event organizers with player management, live golf scoring, leaderboards, scoring links, optional broadcast announcements and player voice recordings, and optional App Store purchases. This policy explains the information used to provide those features.

Information Collected

• Accounts: email address, a securely hashed password, optional player name, and sign-in session records such as IP address and browser or device information.
• Events and participants: event details, player names, optional player email addresses and handicap indexes, teams, competitions, tee and course information, scores, match results, wager terms, and calculated wager results.
• Player access: event access codes, private invitation identifiers, and device-session records used to recognize a scoring device.
• Broadcast data: announcement text, scoring context, generated audio, and player voice recordings when broadcast features are enabled. A player chirp includes the audio, its duration and format, the sending player, and event or pairing context.
• Chirp reports: the reported recording, its moderation status and decision, and the reporting player when the reporter is recognized. Spectator reports can be submitted without storing an additional reporter identity.
• App Store purchases: the product, Apple transaction identifier, purchase time and environment, and whether an AI Broadcast credit is available, assigned, or consumed. Apple processes payment details; chirp does not receive payment card numbers.

How Information Is Used

• Authenticate account holders and recognize player devices.
• Operate events, calculate scores, positions, and wager projections, and keep leaderboards and broadcasts current.
• Send password resets and organizer-requested scoring links.
• Broadcast player chirps to event listeners, review reported audio, stop removed audio from playing, and prevent a blocked player from sending more chirps.
• Verify App Store purchases, restore unconsumed AI Broadcast credits, prevent duplicate transactions, and assign a purchased credit to an event.
• Protect the service, diagnose failures, and prevent misuse.

Public Leaderboards and Service Providers

When an organizer enables a public leaderboard, participant names, teams, scores, positions, and scorecards may be visible to anyone with the leaderboard link. Organizers should only add participant information they are authorized to use.

When wager tracking is configured, wager amounts and projected or final results may also appear on the leaderboard. Chirp records terms and calculates results only; it does not accept stakes, hold funds, transfer money, or pay winnings. App Store purchases are limited to the separate AI Broadcast feature.

Player chirps are played for people listening to that event’s broadcast. A reported chirp is hidden from listeners immediately but remains available to the event’s organizers while they review it.

chirp may use hosting, database, and email providers to operate the service. If an organizer enables AI broadcast voiceovers, announcement text may include a participant name and scoring result. That text is sent to the Google Gemini API to generate audio. Player voice recordings are not sent to Gemini for voice generation.

Apple processes App Store purchases and provides transaction information used to verify and restore AI Broadcast credits. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect the service and its users.

chirp does not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Retention and Deletion

Event information is retained while the organizer keeps the account and event data in chirp. This includes player chirp recordings and moderation reports. Reported recordings remain hidden from event listeners while a decision is pending. When an organizer removes a reported chirp, its recorded audio is permanently deleted while the moderation decision is retained.

Organizers can permanently delete their account from My profile. This removes the organizer account and its events, participants, scores, sessions, broadcast announcements, player voice recordings, moderation reports, and generated audio that is no longer used by another announcement.

App Store transaction and credit records are retained with the purchaser’s account while needed to verify, restore, assign, or account for the purchase, and may be retained longer where required for fraud prevention, financial records, disputes, or legal obligations.

Deleting a player account removes its credentials and sessions and unlinks it from event player records. The organizer’s event record, including the player name and scores, remains until the organizer changes or deletes it.

Deletion removes active service records immediately. Copies may remain temporarily in routine backups until those backups rotate, or longer when retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

Your Choices

Account holders can update their email or password and delete their account from My profile. Accounts are optional for participants, who can continue using a recognized device without creating one. Listeners can report a player chirp from the broadcast player; the audio is hidden and the sender is paused pending organizer review. Event organizers can restore a chirp, remove it, block the sender from further chirps, or allow the sender again.

A participant who wants event data corrected or deleted should contact the event owner who added them. Deleting an account is permanent and cannot be undone.

Security and Policy Changes

chirp uses access controls, hashed passwords, private tokens, and encrypted connections in production to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security. This policy may be updated as the service changes; the revision date above will be updated when that happens.
